THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT TIME written by Mark Haddon Every summer my mom makes me read at least 3 books. I choose 2 and she chooses one for me. This book, written by Mark Haddon, was the book my mom chose for me. It is a national bestseller. At first the book did not sound at all interesting but when I started reading it two days ago I actually started liking it. So far I have only read to page 45 but in these few pages many mysterious and interesting events have happened. This book is about a 15 year old boy named Christopher who is trying to solve the mystery of the murder of his neighbors dog, Wellington. Throughout these few pages I could tell that Christopher is a peculiar kid. He is paranoid, a clean freak, doesn't like speaking to anyone, or having people touch him. Book reviews such as San Francisco Chronicle, The Miami Herald, and others have called Mark Haddons novel "Smart", "Captivating", and "Observant". The Daily Telegraph calls Christopher "a new kind of Hero". So far I like this book because it is a different type of book and has a different meaning to it. I am looking forward to keep on reading the book and to find out who killed Wellington.

MOVIE MARATHON WEEK! This Thursday my vacation finally started. I traveled with my mother to my house in Miami. All of my family met us here and now we have a full house. These days it has been very boring so my cousin Christina and I decided to do a movie marathon Friday to Sunday. Every day we went to the movie theater and watched a different movie for 3 days. Our first movie was Sex and the City II. This movie was a HIT movie with american women and teen agers. It was about four best friends going on a new journey, to a place called Abu Dhabi in the Middle East. This movie showed me the culture of Abu Dhabi, how women and men respect each other and what love and sexual relationships mean to them. I laughed and I learned about other cultures and how they are different from american cultures. The second movie we watched was Killers. This was a hilarious comedy about a married couple who is being hunted down because the husband is an ex agent. This movie was a catching comedy witch showed me that love is more important than any job and in the end it always overcomes. The final movie we saw was The A Team. This movie was about 4 men who worked for the us army and stuck together through good and bad times. They are betrayed by their coronel and are sent to jail. After breaking out of jail to clean their names they find out in the end that it was their dearest friend who betrayed them. I learned that not all people are whom they say and that betrayal comes right back. All of these three movies have shown and teached me different things from which I learned and will never forget.

END OF THE BOOK!
This week I finished the book I was reading called The Curious incident of the Dog in The Night Time. This book was an interesting novel about a boy named Christopher who is trying to find out who killed the dog Wellington. This book in my opinion was trying to introduce a "new kind of hero" like The Daily Telegraph said. Some of the books highlights are love, intelligence, and courage coming from Christopher. He solves all the mysteries and in the end he gets rewarded. Even though he is a peculiar kid he still manages to figure out who killed the dog and finds his mother. Christopher is a hero who does not see himself as an important guy. He is a normal teenager who likes helping people around even if it means risking his life and family. I really enjoyed reading this captivating and brilliant book. (Word count 150)

ONE HUNDRED DEMONS!
This week I just started reading my second book called One Hundred Demons written by Lynda Barry. This book was given to me by my sister Natalia who was asked to read it herself by her college Stanford. From the few pages I have read, I have seen that this book is captivating not only to the mind but to the eye. This is a biography that Lynda Barry has written of the 100 demons she had inside her when she was young. Some of the demons that have caught my eye are Head Lice and My Worst Boyfriend, Lost Worlds, and Dancing. This is a fun and entertaining book that teaches us the fun stuff in life. It shows us how even the small fun times can bring us memories that will always stay with us. I am looking forward to keep on reading this fun and captivating book.(Word Count 150)

MY PEN PAL!
This week I wrote a letter to my pen pal, Isabella Ruso. She has been my pen pal since I was in 3rd grade and since then we write to each other. She is a year older than me and lives in Michigan. We started writing when my 3rd grade teacher assigned us a person and made us write them a letter. We have been writing for 6 years and I hope will last for much longer. Since 3rd grade I have practiced my spelling and English when writing to her. She is a great friend who I can hopefully meet in the future. Isabella is a nice, caring, mature, funny girl. We have been planning to meet each other for years and maybe it can happen this christmas. Isabella Ruso is a very special friend to me even though we have never met. She showed me that there are other ways to communicate not only by telephones and internet. (Word Count 160)

CRANIUM! This week with my friends we decided to do something different. Instead of going to a house and watching movies or going to dinner, we decided to have a night of board games. We chose several board games and decided which one to play. We had cranium, Taboo, and Pictionary. In the end Cranium won with the majority of votes. Cranium is a fun and entertaining game which has different types of tasks. With your team you have to pic a card and act, draw, hum, or sculpt the song or word that came out. Cranium is a great game which lets us review our english while having a blast. We had two teams, one of four and the other one of 5. The members of the first team were Pupi, Vero, Nati, and Faike. The second team was Edi, Steven, Adrian, Banders, and me. We had a great time playing this game and decided now to play board games for often. (Word count 162)

WANTED 8! This week I finally got the book I was waiting for the entire summer. Wanted is the 8th book of the Pretty Little Liars saga by Sara Shepard. This was a very interesting and exciting book since it was the last one. All of these eight books tell us a story about a group of girls who loose their best friend. In seventh grade, Ali, Hannah, Spencer, Aria, and Emily were 5 best friends who ruled their school. They did everything together but that changed immediately when Ali was murdered. After her death the other four separated but started getting weird and threatening messages. This is a breath taking, mysterious book that blew me away. It showed me how we have to be careful choosing our friends and how in the end even your best friends can betray you. I really enjoyed reading this book since the last 7 were great. (Word count 151)

SHARK WEEK!! My last week of summer was great, I had fun with my friends and I got to see one of my favorite shows an entire week. The Discovery Channel gives shark Week every year. For an entire 7 days, the Discovery Channel goes out and shows us every detail, eating habit, and attack a great white has. When I was small I used to love watching shark shows and since then I am afraid of them. My mom used to tell me to watch these shows so I could see that sharks did not attack people. Great Whites are powerful and scary animals that are in the top of the food chain but at the same time are very interesting and captivating. People all around the world watch Shark Week and learn about these amazing animals. Shark Week is a great show, which teaches us about an amazing creature and also entertains us.(Word Count 153)
